Salisbury Cathedral, from Harnham Slope...
It's after midnight, so the floodlights have gone out.
It's slightly misty and the atmosphere slightly damp. This seems to have heightened the orange city streetlamps and made them really sing. Very little editing in this and no colour change or enhancement.
I did snap this scene, with intention for a Blip, back a few months ago, but another image from that day was posted. As the trees here gain leaves, the view is squeezed, as the gap is engulfed - the Cathedral and Spire is always just visible but its surroundings aren't - so I wanted to get it again, now, rather than later.
Much of the footpath is very narrow and quite muddy and on a very steep scree of slope, plus, mostly, VERY dark. But it's always a pleasure, though it has to be said that this position is about the only place where you can get a clear view for a photograph. I am looking in a north-easterly direction.
This is not a long focal length - about 2 times magnification - so you can see that you are actually fairly close to the Cathedral.

Many thanks to ALL for getting my fisheye'd whole sky of stars Blip of yesterday well up to no 5 in the Spotlights. This image is as heavenly, in my opinion - what a fantastic building this is and how wonderful it looks rising from the modern city. Yes, I am biased!
