Blue whale and dolphin watching!!

It was a 6.30am start today as were going to see some dolphins and blue whales. We got picked up in a Tuk Tuk and taken to the harbour to board our boat. Then we set sail on the open sea and after 5 mins we turned back as some German woman started crying, as she was scared of the sea!!!! So why book the trip?

After about 15 mins we had our first sighting of dolphins and it was amazing to see them playing around with each other in the wild. We didn't just see one or two we saw about 500 and I really wish we had been allowed to jump in and swim with them. Then it was on to find the blue whale. We had the chance to do this in California with our great friend Kayleigh and her alright boyfriend Ewen but for some stupid reason didn't do it. REGRET IT BIG TIME.

Anyway after 3 hours of searching we didn't find a thing and then two of these massive creatures appeared about 200 metres away.WOW. After they surface they dive for up to 12 mins so the boats have an idea where they are going to re surface. Our guides had guessed pretty well and this time they appeared about 50 metres from the boat. They looked absolutely massive compared to photos and this time it even brought it's tail up for a spectacular photo opportunity(I was to busy watching and didn't get a photo).

We then jumped on the scooter and headed to a place called Embilipitiya to stay over, so were close to Uda Walawe National Park. We found a really nice hotel for £15 a night after a bit of haggling. For dinner we went down stairs and I had a chicken curry which came with dhal, capsicum curry, potato curry and squid curry along with the biggest portion of rice you could imagine. Alison opted for a cheese spread piece and chips (she was getting bored of curry). Off to bed after another amazing day.
