Udawalawe National Park
It's 5.15 am and were up and off to Uda Walawe National Park to hopefully see some cool animals in the wild. We eventually got to the park after a few wrong turns and a lot of asking locals for directions. Once we arrived we jumped straight in a 4x4 with raised seats and headed off with our guide into the park. (Jeep £15 + £30 park tickets)As soon as we entered the park we came across a herd of elephants which was really cool as we had never seen elephants in the wild. They definitely were wild as one tried to charge our jeep but thankfully the guide managed to handle the situation and stop a catastrophe!!
The trip around the park lasted for 2 hours 30 mins and we saw loads of animals including: elephants, buffalo, crocodile, lizards, monkeys, eagles and a whole host of other things. The scenery around the park is absolutely breath taking and the whole trip was well worth the £45 we spent(expensive for Sri Lanka).
We jumped on the scooter and headed north towards Norton Plains National Park as there are a few things in the area we want to do tomorrow. The drive was getting tiring and a storm was closing in so we stopped at this amazing hotel to chance our luck. It was another good bit of haggling from Alison and we were into a hotel with some of the best views in the country. It also had an infinity pool and a hot/cold tub. (The water was freezing).
It turned out me and Alison were the only two people staying at this hotel and so for dinner we had about 10 staff around us asking if they could do anything for us. The chef came and asked me what sort of food I liked and then got in the kitchen and made a massive feast. The food was delicious and the beer we had along side it made for a great evening. The staff were great and we found out a lot more about Sri Lankan people and their amazing country. Quality.
