Highlander Mountain Marathon (Day One)
After an overnight stay in Spean Bridge, we arrived in a rainy Glenfinnan just after 7am, registered, tightened a few straps & laces, then set off onto the hills.
In 7hrs 22minutes, we reached the end of day one, with a wee run into the finish for good measure. The mid-camp was in the grounds of delapidated Inverailort House where we set up tents like refugees on the lawn.
The weather on the wild hills of Moidart had been fairly kind with only thick clag on the summit of Beinn Odhar Beag. By 10am the sun was shining and we enjoyed extensive views over the Inner Hebrides whilst running between checkpoints. Here we are descending Sgurr na Ba Glaise, with Rois Bheinn ahead.
