Down to earth (almost)

Another gloriously sunny day which I hope everyone enjoyed. Time to catch up on outside stuff.

There is a part of the garden which I haven't touched since building the house here and I am sure it wasn't touched much before that. It is full of the sort of weeds that gardeners greet with a sharp intake of breath, a solemn shaking of the head and mutterings of 'you'll never get rid of that'. There is ground elder, couch grass, bindweed .... Every forkful was followed by a considerable time picking out the roots certain in the knowledge that some pieces of root will be missed and live on to grow for another day. The last chemical resort my be necessary.

But it was good to see freshly dug earth.

The skylarks are also closer to earth at the moment. Nesting time.
