You Call Me Up, Because You Know I'll Be There...

I had a conversation with my Nant tonight.

I was explaining to her about my birthday, and my lack of acceptance of age.

When Si was 40, I announced this to the receptionist at my work. As she sat with her fingers held up in front of her, she shook her head and said, "You must have met Si when you were at school, it must be a big age difference".

I looked at her for a moment, and shook my head, "what are you talking about? " "You're 28", she said, "that's a big age gap - you must have been really young when you met him".

I stared at her unbelieving ... 28 was my bog standard answer, for quite a few years after I reached 28. I figured that if she believed it, I'd just stick with it.... Of course, I increased in age subsequently after that because she was counting now.

When I hit a certain number, I decided that I was going no further... I went a couple of years up, and then started back down again. I'm quite happy to lie blatantly about my age..

I think i managed to say so many different numbers, and give her so many different explanations I may have gotten away with 42. Pah!

Will I have heck as like.... As my mum is 10 years her junior, Nant's youngest is 10 years older than me. She knows exactly how old I am... But so long as she doesn't shout it!
