Stand off
The sheep have never had contact with dogs. Maera was brought up with them and mostly she ignores them and they ignore her. Cocoa, on the other hand, would like to make friends. He'd love to give them a good sniff . They lower their heads, not to reciprocate but to butt him.
It's become a daily game. Cocoa puts his head through the fence to sniff and they make dents in the wire. The day will come when the dogs head will not be withdrawn in time. They're slowly getting used to one another and I'm taking the dogs into the paddock often. Cocoa stays at my heels, knowing that it's the safest place when the ewes are nearby. Maera turned her back on them and was sniffing around in the grass a little too close the other day. She shot some distance into the air, aided by a ewes nose.
I did try to load this before going to work last night but kept getting the 'Ooops' message. I must try to get on the case earlier.
