Nest of the Easter Bird
Found in the garden early this morning, the nest of the Easter Bird, Avis Paschae.
The Easter Bird is a very rare bird indeed. It lays it's highly distinctive, multicoloured, eggs amongst the Primulas on one single day each year. Unusual for the fact that these eggs are laid early in the morning and the chicks will hatch and fledge within 24 hours. I failed miserably, to get a shot of the bird itself and unfortunately, for blip rules, it's unlikely that I'll be able to get a shot of the chicks for you tomorrow.
Happy Easter Everyone!
The eggs are wrapped tight in pure silk, then boiled to transfer the patterns on the shell. I'm not sure of the edibility post processing but they look good. Made for a friend these are going now but Cocoa has made a little stash for himself!
