The Bear neccesaties

On the park adjacent to our office is a formal pond gone' wild' that was part of the 'big house' formal gardens. This remnant plant appears every year in the damp margins. Western Skunk Cabbage or Swamp Lantern is a glorious yellow with an over powering smell. In north America where it is common, bears are known to eat the roots on emerging from hibernation as they are apparently are effective laxative. And who wouldn't need a good clear out after months of bottling it all up!
