Buses and beer in Edinburgh
It was another beautiful day in Edinburgh!
I had my usual breakfast (with haggis!) sat in my front window seat. Seattle Man arrived shortly having avoided the pub the previous evening feeling much better. He has got his accommodation choices down to three areas - Morningside, Leith or Stockbridge - which are all very nice. He could shop at Waitrose if he lived in Morningside, I pointed out. To be honest, you just can't go wrong. We are all here in Leith at A Haven anyway but I think he would be closer to Ocean Terminal, Morningside is lively and very busy and Stockbridge is next to here and personally, I'd go there as that is where dad lived when he was here.
NB. Trams were running here in Edinburgh when dad was growing up and staggering out of town late at night. Shame they pulled them all out to spend a fortune putting the trams back in again years later..... Sorry, this isn't a political broadcast. Seattle Man has a nice decision to make!
Anyway, I went back upstairs and watched a bit of Jeremy Kyle before I headed out into the sunshine. As I knew I was meeting pals at 2pm, I decided to jump on the number 11, take it a long way out and then walk back to the Hanging Bat (a beer cafe) as the walk was downhill all the way. It didn't quite work out like that but it was a nice bus trip in any case.
A woman on the bus lost her wedding ring while she was waiting to get off. She had it on a chain in her pocket, strangely, and it fell out when she was getting a tissue out. I heard the 'ping' from where I was sat towards the back but despite the best efforts of the driver and two ladies on their hands and knees searching, the ring was not to be found. Hmmmm.
I'll rush on a bit now as I'm heading out shortly. It was a lovely afternoon/evening in the Hanging Bat with Baxter , Ann, John and Angie. Nelly and Angie's boyfriend Richard popped in a little later. It was great to catch up with friends. I look forward to the day when we can all meet more frequently.
It wasn't too late a night and I was back at A Haven by 10:30pm. Today's picture, one of hardly any I took, is of Baxter and Ann. We spent a good bit of time trying to persuade Ann to take up blipping properly as she walks at least 5 miles per day and takes loads of pictures! One day.....
