strange; uncommon.

Some selcouth facts about the tiny town (population: 1824) where I live:

* The Village Store (the only store ...) on Main Street was built back in 1899 by Charles B. Thompson, the country's original mail order man and pioneer in the mail order and advertising field.

* The Village Store is now owned by the town’s largest tax payer, Mr. Peter May, who used to own the Snapple beverage company, and is currently a major stockholder of the Wendy’s and Arby’s chains.

* Bridgewater is the only “dry” town in the state of Connecticut, meaning that no alcohol may be bought or sold, although you are certainly allowed to drink it here!

* Famous American author/playwright Norman Mailer lived here with his second wife, Adele Morales in the 1950’s.

* ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer and her film director husband, Mike Nichols used to own an Arabian horse farm here.

* Actress Mia Farrow lives in town. Woody Allen used to live here too, until he fell from grace.
