CRICKEY ,Are those wires Live ?

I tried to change a light bulb , THAT I CAN DO , ;-) "Easy Peasy"

errrrrrrr Well I thought it was .The manual said just reach up on tippy toes , arms upwardly stretched , (to the limit )twist this way then that and hey presto a bulb will plop into your hand .

WHAT !!!!! Why then do I have the whole glass shallow conical shaped shade in my hands.,HUUUUUUU?

( I inherited with a farm house I once bought in the Peak District , and took with me when I moved again as I love it so much . It s ooo so simple and looks like it could have hung in Ikes store , (remember IKE , who ran the village store in the" WALTONS " in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia ,
( I had a crush on JOHN BOY , ),,or even Grandma kitchen come to that .)

Not only do I have the emmm rather dusty glass shade , (I must be between cleaning ladies , well thats my excuse ;-) ) in my hand , but there seems to be part of the light fitting thingy to .

I rather suspect that the scally wag who tells Porkies about punctured bicycle tyres , also kicks his football around the AGA room when told NOT TO , (so that antique glass shades....
(well its at-least 15 years old , and who knows how long it had been in the 200 year old farmhouse ? Hang on a mo , when exactly was the light bulb invented ,?)
.. .....do not get broken .

HUMMMMMMMMMM ,

Now what do I exactly do with the live wires ? When you live out in the sticks , well ok the sea shore , then any electrician , plunber or builder takes at leeeeeeast 6 months to turn up . Ho-hum . Am I to live in darkness until then with my bairns ? . If I accidently stand on a chair and wiggle the exposed wires just out of curiosity in a moment of boredom some day will I be electrocuted ?
OOOOOO What a perilous world we live in ;-)

I suppose I better go and find some candles for now or any unsuspecting man that happens to pass by that looks like he can twiddle a screw driver . ;-)
