Whangarei Falls

A two hour journey from Wellsford to Paihia which we managed to make four hours with various stops along the way including the water falls at Whangarei (Blip).

Arrived at the motel in Paihia just after 2 pm and from our motel room, elevation about 400 metres, we can see right across the estuary and the town of Russell on the far side. As we arrived a cruise Liner was anchored and tendering the passengers to Paihia using their lifeboats. We went into town to get a few provisions and a wander around the town and a Farmer's Market. The cruise ship Victoria was due to anchor in the estuary tomorrow but due to the cyclone that is heading our way the ship has cancelled the visit. Tomorrow is meant to be fine so we hope to visit a few of the attractions in and around Paihia. The bad weather is expected to arrive on Saturday.
