Mayan Archaeological Site
Rising up out of the jungle of the northeast corner of the state of Chiapas, Mexico, are the ruins of Palenque, a Mayan city that reached its height of glory from approximately 600 to 700 A.D.
Several temples and tombs have been excavated, some only partially, but many more are hidden in the lush jungle growth, where they will remain forever.
Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful Mayan ruins, visiting this site was particularly enjoyable because of the green park like setting with large expanses of grass shaded by huge trees.
