A slice of Lesley's life

By Lesley

The journey begins

In a little over an hour I shall be on a plane for the rest of the day so I'd better take this opportunity to get my blip in. This is my lunch. In the slightly eerily hushed but rather splendid* environs of the BA lounge at T5. Taking what felt like a gamble and booking my ticket through a dodgy feeling travel agency Carl found seems to have paid off as I have a free upgrade and am at the closest to the front of the plane you can be without having to wear a silly hat or do anything useful, like fly. Which is a good thing for many reasons, not least because the rose champagne is really very nice and I barely slept last night. I shall be making full use of the actual, real duvet I am apparently getting. Never having done this I am in fairly equal measure giddy and intimidated. Am practising walking with an air of entitlement but not sure anyone is fooled.

Interestingly distracted morning; J and Carl headed off to football and I took Anna to a party which turned out to be a drop off so I spent an agreeable hour or so in a coffee shop catching up on our challenging post holiday weeks with my skiing buddies.

Kids had been touchingly sad about me going but the last words I heard Anna say to Rob as I got into my taxi to the airport were, "at least I've got my iPad mini". So nice to know I can be replaced so easily!

Next blip from foreign shores...

* my one complaint is the lack of my favourite newspaper and the limited choices of Torygraph, FT, Daily Wail and the Indie.
