Walking Wombat

Gold for Australia, Gold, Gold, Gold!!

As the Alternative Olympics are drawing to a close there was a Gold Medal moment for Team OZ. It has taken 14 years to capture this moment! For all that time this beautiful little yellow breasted robin has been visiting Wombat Hollow. They are fantastic little puffed up birds that love to come and visit when you've been doing some digging or pulling up bracken etc. I have tried desperately over the past months (since I started Blipping) to photograph him, but to no avail.

This morning I went down to make a cup of tea and glanced out of the kitchen window at the veggie patch. There was this fabulous little bird looking straight at me and looking like he was standing on the Podium waiting for the medals ceremony to begin. Fortunately once again the camera was virtually velcrosed to my body. Tried a newly suggested setting and bingo!! You little beauty!!

It's Latin name is Eopsaltria australis and commonly known as the Eastern Yellow Robin. I have added another image to my Wombat Hollow Blipfolio. I really had to toss a coin as to which one to Blip, I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
