Boublies under the city

Deep underneath the city of Samur is a network of tunnels and a factory where they make the local sparkling wine. It is Champagne quality, but they are not allowed to call it Champagne any more because it is not in the Champagne Region.
We all went on a free tour of the tunnels, travelling a mile or so (out of the hundreds of mile that there are) into the refreshing coolness of an underground world where the tunnels were given street names so that factory workers didn't get lost. The guide gave us a fantastic lecture about how the wine and bubbles were made and Archie entertained the audience during the boring bits. After 45 minutes, we all started to get very cold and were quite glad to get back into the sunshine.
