Gone...
I went down to the pond this evening to take some shots of the swans. It was the first time since before my holiday so I was looking forward to see how they've all developed and what did I find? Not a single swan. No parents, no cygnets, nothing. An empty piece of water - cold and silent. Shocking.
I have no idea about the circumstances of their departure, or whether they are dead or alive. I will find out tomorrow when I get over the shock.
The two pictured here are from the other pond just down the road, but there are only two swans and a load of canada geese. This pond is fenced off in such a way that I can't get any decent angles. So that's it, no more swans.
I'm only half way through uploading my holiday shots and haven't even looked at the stuff I've shot since the holiday. Perhaps I never will. The holiday shots upload has stalled on account of the fact that two nights ago, I wrote an accompanying piece of prose that I was really pleased with but spent so long on it that I was kicked out when I uploaded and lost it. Now I can't be arsed to get back into the groove. I will do it because I don't want to forget the details of the holiday - but for now it can wait...
