The Buckinghamshire Levels 2014
On my way back from a really interesting Upper Thames Butterfly Conservation Review Day at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, Wallingford, I came across this view as the sun was setting. This is looking across meadows near Long Marston, the distant catchment for water joining the River Ray and finally the Thames. After the last few days the landscape around here is starting to look more like the Fens or the Somerset Levels. The water will drain away quickly (unlike the awful situation in Somerset and closer to the Thames) but while it lasts it makes sunsets so much more beautiful!
