Simple misnomer...or ironygate?

Let me recommend pushing an inquisitive toddler around a rather ordinary village to make you spot small features that raise questions...and simply wierd things. These gates are on the normal route to see the new house being built and, if we are lucky, the big yellow digger working. This is not a good stopping point for learning our colours, however! These gates have been unpainted, dark wood ever since we've been in the village. I suppose it's no more deceitful than the bungalow down the road with the sign 'Shangri-la'!
