Wet, Wet, Wet

This afternoon the walking group were meeting in the village of Bramber for a walk organised by one of our member,s who had offered to lead a walk so that Kate could have a break. The weather was awful, and as the morning progressed more and more people were dropping out, but Chrissy and I as well as some of the others, said we'd still go as we've got waterproof trousers as well as coats.

When we were almost there I got a call from Kate to say that she'd had a message to say that the walk had been cancelled, but asked if we wanted to meet up anyway and do a slightly shorter walk. She said that she was going to have to go to the meet point as there may be others who hadn't got the message that it was cancelled.

So we arranged to meet in the pub and there were actually 13 of us in total, most of who didn't know it had been cancelled. We walked up to the ruins of Bramber Castle, and then followed a path that runs parallel with the River Adur, and I spotted this sign on the road into the village which actually says 'Businesses open as usual'. I told everyone to pose for a group photo, so that we could show our fair weather walking friends that as far as we were concerned, it was business as usual - with a little editing of the wording on the sign of course :-)

The rain was extremely heavy and with the wind it was stinging our faces, so we only stayed out for an hour, but by the time we got back to the pub we were totally soaked. My waterproof trousers and coat were not that waterproof, and everything was wet! It was very invigorating, but it was nice to get home and have a hot shower.

I'm looking forward to a night out with a couple of girls from the French group tonight. We're going for a Thai meal and a pub crawl around Rottingdean - if you can call it a pub crawl, there's only 4 pubs!
