172 steps later!

Visiting my sister in York and went to York Minster. Paid extra to be allowed to climb up the narrow spiral stairs in the tower to get this view. The last 20 steps were the hardest! You had to keep climbing as there was no way anyone could overtake you if you stopped for a rest. There was a viewing point about half way which was very welcome and gave us all time to get our breath back a little. Didn't stay too long at the top as the icy wind froze your face. I can now see why my sister declined to come with me - she advised me that 'once is enough'. Now I know why.
It costs £20,000 per day just to keep it standing. You need several visits to take it all in as there are several exhibitions there as well as the enormous building to explore. I will be back.
