Burns night disaster
The burns night dinner at Weybridge RC last night was superb but it started with picking up the wreckage from the afternoon's storm. After the club surviving (mostly) the winter gales and gushing waters, a sudden storm swept through late afternoon, pulled a few boats off their racks and toppled a couple of the single scull racks with some eye-watering results.
So the first part of the evening was spent righting the racks and trying to save the shells from any further damage.
But the second part of the evening was a great burns supper, ritually piped in and stabbed. A special thanks to Caroline, John and all the Weybridge team for preparing a splendid supper that filled us all to bursting…. and we can't even row it off today as the river is still swollen and well closed.
Apologies for the back-blip, but we had to tidy up before the weather got worse and everybody got too wobbly ad I had already blipped for yesterday.
