The High Life in Rio

Today we went up Sugar Loaf Mountain which involved 2 cable car rides, 4 if you count the way down, but it was quite spectacular. I do hope you like the view from the top it shows the glorious Copocabana beach.
We have been warned about the dangers of Rio and in particular the petty thiefs and today we witnessed it at first hand. We were having lunch in a packed restaurant talking to a delightful girl from USA when suddenly I saw this young man running from the back of the restaurant to the front door where we were sitting. He was holding a large silver crucifix in his hand and was being chased by a waiter. The look on the face of the thief was sheer terror as the waiter had grabbed a couple of huge kitchen knives complete with joints if beef and was catching him up and floored him in front of us. Police were called who were armed and eventually he was carted off to the nearest police station. crucifix was returned to the restaurant where it was placed on the wall an business returned to normal!
We are now back at the hotel after a fabulous day and someone has just ordered sex on the beach.....I have ordered a large cold orange juice. It's a cocktail, if you haven't guessed already but I suppose in Rio anything is possible! Well almost!!
