A Staggering Day

This morning I picked up Chrissy and drove to Henfield to meet Kate who organises our midweek walking group. Today we were doing the recce for next week's walk, and it was quite eventful and took somewhat longer than planned!

To cut a long story short it started with Dexter (Kate's dog) chasing geese, an Alpaca chasing Dexter, lots of mud, a field full of deer, more mud, deep water, wet feet, more deer, dogs eating reindeer poo, getting lost, hard boiled eggs & mini chocolates to share, lots more mud and fallen trees. Finally after 4 hours we made it back to the cars, and headed into the village to find a cafe!

It was such a fun day, full of laughs and I'm looking forward to doing it again next Thursday with the rest of the walking group. The downside was that Louis got absolutely filthy being knee deep in mud, and was sick after eating deer poo!

On spotting the herd of deer I had to try and get a close up of this handsome stag. He saw me and kept his eye on me to make sure I didn't get too close, but unfortunately I'd taken my older camera and pictures aren't as sharp as they would have been with my new one. We're currently watching Stargazing Live with Professor Brian Cox, and there are talks of the aurora potentially being visible over the UK tonight, including the South of the country. I would love to see this, so I'm keeping my camera at hand and if the sky looks clear, and if the indications look favourable, I'm hoping Alan will come out with me after midnight for a drive to a high point on the Downs - if I'm still awake that is! If not, hopefully Blippers further North will provide us with some amazing images.

In other news, today would have been my dad's 85th birthday - Happy Birthday Dad xx
