Mare's tails

Mare's tail sky trails,
Pink as seaside candyfloss,
Forewarn of grey rain.

According to the old saying "Mare’s tails and mackerel scales make tall ships carry low sails.".

In other words they are a forewarning of winds and rain to come. This is an old saying which is actually borne out by science. So there.

It proved to be true today as it wasn't too long before the sky darkened and the rain came.
