The visit

Rest your weary feet,
Listen as the walls whisper,
Forgotten stories.


Went to a meet up with the London Photography group, at Pitzhanger-Manor House and Gallery in Ealing. The purpose was to see a photography exhibition called Wundercamera.

The exhibition was interesting and thought provoking, but sadly no photography was allowed inside. We then wandered around the house/gallery which is a little down at heel and many of the rooms were quite empty save for a few statues. (In the room in the picture was a piano with a notice on top saying "Please do not play this piano")

The empty rooms left scope for the imagination to roam with thoughts of the people who had lived and loved there and what dramas of their lives had unfolded in these spaces.

The exhibition included photographs from many contributors focussed around museum exhibits and visitors, with both "found" and posed shots. It sounds quite dull, but was actually very interesting with a diverse range of techniques on display.

There is a history of the house here, for those interested. It is notable for being "redeveloped" by John Soane (famous collector and architect of the Bank of England) and was also apparently once the home of the daughters Spencer Perceval, Britain's only assassinated Prime Minister.
