To be beside the sea!

We woke up to sunshine and not a cloud in the sky, although it was cold and frosty, but the perfect day for a walk. So after breakfast we got wrapped up and walked over the hill into Rottingdean, then over Beacon Hill into Ovingdean and down to the beach. We decided to stop at the cafe on the beach for a hot chocolate, and were very tempted to have a bacon sandwich as the smell of bacon was wafting in the air.

But when we got down to the cafe, there were so many people as you can see here, so we decided just to have a drink, and luckily we found a bench to sit on. In the sun it felt really pleasant, and there were people on the beach, people using their beach huts, and loads of people walking with dogs and on bikes. I have never seen it so busy, it was like a bank holiday in the summer!

I noticed something on the wall when I took this photo of our hot chocolates so went to have a look, and it was a dead stingray. I guess it had been found dead on the beach, but I'm not quite sure why it had been put on the wall.

We had a great walk, and now Louis is curled up in his bed and I'm about to take our Christmas tree down. We've got friends arriving tomorrow for a couple of days and it'll give us more room if it's gone, and I normally take it down on New Year's Day anyway so it's only a couple of days early. Then tonight we've got our neighbours coming round for a drink for the first time since we moved here - it'll be nice to get to know them a bit better.

I took loads of photos on our walk, and I've added some photo's to my flickr account if you want to have a look.
