Christmas
On the riv. This windmill palm is part of my everyday life. I once saw crows sitting in it and I thought I'd write a story called "Crow in a Windmill Palm". And may still someday. Why not? The Pinkish flowers to the right are from Paulwania (sp?), which is basically what we call Balsa in the west. It has the most brilliant pinkish-to-purple flowers. Legend has it that when you are graced with a newborn daughter you plant this tree...and by the time she is ready to wed you can make a dowry box (for kimono) from it (as it grows rather rapidly). Right now it's at pink. Kind of nicely weird for this time of year, a tree color. This view is from the Konaigobashi, a wooden bridge across the Yamazaki River in Mizuho-ward, Aichi-prefecture, Japan. It is good day to see the sun. Merry Christmas (for whatever reason you celebrate this 25th day of the year).
