Ye Olde Black Horse, Rottingdean

The weather has been absolutely awful today, it's not stopped raining and there are gale force winds. It's a shame as tonight there's a traditional winter solstice 'Burning of the Clocks' parade in Brighton, where children parade through the streets carrying lanterns, which are then burnt on a big bonfire on the beach followed by fireworks. We were planning to go and watch it, but the bonfire and fireworks have been cancelled, and although the parade is still on I can't imagine it'll be much fun.

We got up late this morning, and after breakfast I cleaned the house and packed the cases ready for our journey up North tomorrow, while Alan nipped out to do some 'last minute' Christmas shopping. Then this afternoon mum and I went to the supermarket where I picked up a few stocking fillers for Scarlett. Everything's now wrapped and ready to go :-)

We've just come back from Ye Olde Black Horse in Rottingdean where we'd booked to take mum out for a Christmas dinner, which was lovely. Knowing the size of the portions there, we booked the table for 4.30pm and didn't have any lunch!

There wasn't much choice for my blip today as I didn't want to take my camera out in the rain, but I managed to get this shot of the outside of the Ye Olde Black Horse. It's a very welcoming place, and you'll see the date on the wall is 1513 - they celebrated the 500 year anniversary this summer.

Anyway, we're back in time for mum to watch the final of Strictly, and I'm still not feeling great so it'll be another early night for me!
