House update

About a year ago, I blipped this house and I wrote about how it had fallen into a state of disrepair. I happened to be driving past this afternoon and I was surprised to see how much work had been done even with the snow on the ground. View it on large to see the detail of the stonework. I think by the spring, this will be quite an impressive home. It certainly makes me feel better knowing someone has decided it was worth the investment to fix it up.

Today I was up early and out early to art class. It was our last class until after the New Year so we did a lot of gabbing while we worked on our projects. Such a great bunch of women and it always cheers me to go there. We were all discussing the holiday luncheons and parties that everyone attends this time of year and how it feels like you just have one eating event after another. It makes it impossible to keep to any sort of healthy diet. That does not even include the snacks, cookies and cakes that are so popular right now.

Between the weather limited outdoor activities and the amount of feasting we do it is no wonder we all need to drop a few pounds come springtime. I have an added challenge right now because my husband has a company trip that we attend every January and this year it is in Mexico. The thought of putting on a bathing suit in January is not very appealing. I welcome the sunshine and warmer weather but I am not feeling especially confident to be half-naked in front of his coworkers. I bought some tinted moisturizer that was suggested by a friend so that I would be so pasty white on the beach. The stuff has a strange smell to it though and I feel like I stink when I put it on. My husband asked me last night what kind of cologne I had on and I told him it was something new. He said he did not care for it and I cannot blame him. The things we do in the name of vanity!
