Scatchin an Itch

With the rest of the country in a deep freeze...I know that nobody wants to hear it...but...after 8 days...I finally got cold when I went out to the Gulf this afternoon. My car said it was 72F (21C), but it was REAL windy...so I got chilled.

I think even the birds were off somewhere...taking shelter...out of the breeze.

So, I focused in on this guy. Patrick the pelican. Pat was really working it...picking out feathers...shaking his booty...scratching his neck. He was so into it that he let me sneak up right to my minimum focus...5 feet.

I did get a few other birds at another location...more inland...out of the wind. I put a few more shots on my FLICKR PAGE. Fly over and have a look.

Also, on Flickr...our late night trip yesterday to a Christmas light display. The old guy (75) had 600,000 lights, Christmas teddy bears, a model train setup, and many nativity sets.

He also had a monthly power bill of $4,600. The only problem? Not in the greatest of neighborhoods. It made me nervous, but we made it home OK.
