Sgwarnog: In the Field

On Location

For a relatively small settlement, Baildon has its fair share of movie location lore.

It was here that the upwardly mobile Billy Liar  lived in John Scheslinger's  1963 film.

Here also is Bob's house from 1987's Rita, Sue and Bob Too.  And Baildon Moor provided the scene for some off road assignations in the same film.

Apparently a scene from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life was also filmed on the moor, although watching it again recently I struggled to work out which one. Perhaps when Death visits an isolated country house in the fog?

So when a bunch of caravans and film caterers turn up on our doorstep we wonder what might be next. The sign for the location was pointing somewhere over the moor, but as yet we've not learned what was being filmed. Perhaps nothing quite so glamorous this time? Or maybe just an episode of Emmerdale? They've now packed up and gone away, so it can't have taken them too long.

Technically, it is today's blip that completes a third year of blipping, as Blipfoto metrics don't accommodate leap years. And tomorrow will be the third anniversary of starting this adventure. Still, your warm comments on the occasion of my 1095th blip yesterday were very much appreciated. Thank you.
