Sgwarnog: In the Field

Window on 2012

There was a lot going on in the village today to launch Baildon at Christmas. Every church hall and community space had cake and craft stalls, the community garden had been decorated with baubles and there were various other community activities.

The promise of a wreath display lured us into St. John's, the Parish Church, which also gave us a chance for our first view of this new stained glass window, designed and installed by Pendle Stained Glass to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee year. You can read more about the design here, and I recommend viewing large to pick out all of the details. I prefer the one on the left, with key events from 1953 and the Olympic Torch to mark London 2012. A fine piece of art, and it's good to see this investment and prominence afforded to contemporary stained glass.

And finally, many thanks to all of you for popping by on my second blip birthday yesterday.
