Christmas Decorations

Zihuatanejo, like many other towns, is beginning its holiday transformation. Poinsettias are ready for sale at Plaza Kioto, Christmas trees are on display at Sam's Club, and decorations of all kinds are going up on buildings throughout town. Tonight while walking the pedestrian-only streets near the basketball court, I was struck by the juxtaposition of traditional Christmas lights and Mexican celebration banners (I'm sure they have an actual name, but I don't know what it is). As is often the case, two traditions from two cultures are commingled to create something quite beautiful. I will be looking out for more examples as the holiday season progresses.
