Momma Turtle
Tonight was a prime example of why I have started to carry a camera everywhere I go. We were walking back along Playa La Ropa after a nice dinner at one of the beachside restaurants, when I noticed a "lump" at the edge of the surf. I shined my wife's flashlight in that direction and spotted this soon-to-be mother turtle struggling to get out of the ocean. We tried to be respectful of her journey, so I didn't take much time to frame a shot or tweak my camera settings, but wanted to record and remember this unique experience. Unfortunately, even that short time drew a crowd of onlookers, making her task that much more difficult. I expect once she laid her eggs, a representative from one of the two preserves on the beach will move them to a protected area until they hatch an can be released safely into the sea.
