Vistors bearing gifts
A visit from S&J. J was the man who pointed out the wrong setting in my camera which had been causing me much (silent) consternation for months. And the man who said he’d lend me his 300m lens, which with the setting on, is a 600m lens.
Turns out, J knows the wee island in Outer Hebrides that my forebears are from. In fact, he was quite chuffed to meet the great granddaughter of the schoolteacher on the island - Moi! I showed him my Uncle A’s book, which is collected writings of his father as a boy on the island - and he’d read it!
Both were full of advice about such things as wood burners, and in fact, S has just come back (in the afternoon) bearing gifts - a bag of kindling, a trivet for putting a kettle on the burner, a bag of smokeless 'nuts' to try and a wood burner thermometer.
In between visitors, I popped down to the Meadows with my new (borrowed) 600m lens. This shot is taken from one end of the Meadows. There are always folk on top of Arthur’s Seat, but it must have been fabulous today.
I watched the Rugby League semi finals this afternoon - what a game! It’s so much faster and exciting than Union, actually. No silly scrums. And all the players are fast runners.
But I do hope to catch the Scotland game after the next visitors - young Leo has just woken from his afternoon nap (he never slept that long when I was looking after him) and they are coming over for a muffin. Home made, of course.
