The Carpet

I suppose it's nice to be home! We had a lovely meal in our local yesterday evening, I slept in my own bed, and had a bit of a lie in - being on holiday is so tiring! I went out to see if the porcelain fungi we found a couple of weeks ago were still there. No such luck, and not a lot of fungi around in a photogenic state - they were looking a bit worse for wear. A man walking his dog told me that a few days ago the woodland in this picture had been coated in a layer of hail, and he'd heard reports of some snowfall over the Pennines, so I guess we DID have better weather in Norfolk, and it's no wonder the fungi are looking a bit frayed round the edges. This is such a lovely beech woodland, that I thought it stand alone as a scene with its bare, green-tinged trees and the wonderful russet of the fallen leaves.
