The morning after....

The storm hit as promised yesterday, and very sadly a 14 year old boy was lost at sea. He was at the beach with friends but was swept away, and the Search and Rescue teams carried out a 6 hour search, but at 10pm they had to stop as the conditions were too treacherous to continue. It's so very sad, and I can't begin to think what his family must be going through.

I should have been going to London today with Sue and Jan, but in light of the weather warnings and train disruptions we decided to postpone it. We're now going on Friday 13th December - not that we're tempting fate! But when we woke up this morning the sky was blue and the sun was shining so I did wonder whether we could have made it, but it's still very windy and who knows what delays there would have been.

Alan decided that he'd go into work, so I dropped him off on my way to the gym but stopped to take some shots of the sea crashing over the sea wall at Brighton Marina. As you can see it's still incredibly rough, and this shot really doesn't give you a good perspective of the size of the waves, but the marina wall is on two levels - the bottom level is where people stand fishing. I don't know what happened to my photos, but the sea has a very strange blue tint to it - I haven't treated it in anyway, this is how they've all come out.

Overall there doesn't seem to be a lot of damage, we passed a traffic light which had collapsed, and there's a boat that's been washed up onto the beach, but other than that everywhere seems ok. I hope you all survived the worst of the weather too!

Thanks for all your comments, hearts and starts on my cheeky squirrel yesterday, he hit the spotlight!
