The Dome Room, New Register House, Edinburgh
Today I attended a meeting in the Dome Room of New Register House, Edinburgh. What a fabulous location and an opportunity not to be missed, although I also captured some wonderful autumn colours in Princes Street Gardens.
The Dome consists of five tiers of ironwork shelving and galleries similar to those at the British Museum in London. It is over 90 feet high and contains records of Scotland's People past and present, on 4 miles of shelving with half a million volumes. These include registers of all the births, deaths and marriages in Scotland since 1855. You just get a glimpse of the top tier of files in this photo. It was taken with my iPhone on my lap - an awe-inspiring sight.
