Old College Bar
From the sublime to the ridiculous - yesterday the Dome Room in Register House in Edinburgh , today the College Bar in High Street, Glasgow. The former holds the written archives from 1855, but in the latter all the stories worth telling since 1515 must have been related over the odd pint or two. This is reputed to be Glasgow's oldest pub.
I featured it on 2oth February from a different angle. It now has a cleaner look with the white front panels devoid of any advertising. The two characters having a drag at the door was perfect. Even in this most basic of pubs the 'no smoking' ban in public buildings still applies. Black and white treatment suits this black and white building. By the Commonwealth Games next year Glasgow would like to be a smoke-free city. As a Scot might say: Ah hae ma doots!
