Taipei 101
Again, a very late wake up call. It is horrible having no windows in our room. No light to wake us up! We munched the left over bread from last night as our late breakfast. We took the tram from Ximen to Taipei City Hall. Got off there and took a random escalator and found a really cool little square between lots of big buildings. We got a good view of Taipei 101 from there. (The 2nd tallest building in the world). They had a few cute stalls around the coffee tables in the middle. We got 'iced chocolate milk' which was a hot chocolate with ice thrown inside. Sat and enjoyed the sun with the view of the Taipei 101. The temperature over here is so nice. It's not too warm unlike the other weather we have been in that makes you sweat a lot. After our drink we made our way over to the Taipei 101. We just found it by looking up! Not to hard to spot!! We passed some Malaysian people that were doing jumping pictures and they asked if we wanted to join in so we thought it would be funny if we did! Got some crazy jumping pictures of us with them with Taipei 101 behind us. We wandered around the shopping mall that is connected to Taipei 101. They are all the expensive shops... Chanel, Dolce&Gabanna...etc. We bought our tickets to go up T 101 but they told us it was a 40 minute wait and Morag was hungry so we went to get something to eat before we went up. The place we went to had so many amazing patisseries. Didn't splash out though. Queued for a long time before getting the lift up to the 89th floor. When waiting in the queue everyone gets a picture taken off a pretend view of Taipei 101. Morag and I did a classic Chinese pose for the camera! The lift is the fastest one in the world. It takes 37 seconds to get to the top and travels at 60 km/h. Morag and I couldn't stop laughing in the lift as the women taking us up was speaking super super fast in Chinese and the lights dimmed and there was a weird sci-fi noise! When we got to the top got our pictures and then had to walk through a huge coral shop to get out of the building. It was slightly strange as they say they are conserving the coral and they dig up massive bits to put on display in one of the worlds tallest buildings! Took the lift down and then went to find some supper. Ate in a really cool place right next to T 101. We were given cards that we scanned when we went up to order. They made everything in front of you. Got a salmon carbonara which was so good! Our plan was to go to Woo Bar and get a drink but instead we headed to the cinema for a cute date. We watched Runner Runner again which was pretty good 2nd time round. The Chinese were all laughing at radom bits of the film. When we left the cinema we saw masses of people queuing for a club. Quite a few strawberries (white talent) there. We were tempted to go out but we couldn't because our 'hotel' closes at 2.00am. Got back at 12.00am and stayed up rather late before setting our alarm early for tomorrow!
