Cook your own Chinese buffet
My sci-fi alarm scared us both as we 'woke up'/opened our eyes this morning. It went off for a hour and we mumbled to each other that we had had no sleep and should we have a diary day. So we decided very quickly to turn off our alarms and go back to sleep. So our plan of that day has been moved forward a day! We are going to find another room today as our backs are killing us... the beds are so uncomfortable. We woke up a lot later than our 6am plan and we headed to a really cool cafe. It had dangling benches with cool tables that had stones in a glass and little stars. We both had a shake as our late breakfast. They put a pretzel, jelly baby, glazed cherry and sprinkles on top of a mango shake. Definitely the Chinese way!! The benches got slightly tiring to sit on so we didn't stay too long. We tired to find a nice cafe that we could sit in and do our diaries. We found a cool French style one. I asked for a chocolate mocha but I got a iced mocha with masses of very strange cream instead. Think they got slightly confused! Chatted to Mother for a bit until the Internet went down. Can't say enjoyed the mocha much. We stopped off at a hostel on the way back to our room. They said they had a room spare so we got in there and booked it for that night. At our hostel we tried to explain to them that we were leaving but AGAIN nobody understood anyone. So we headed upstairs and packed our bags. Luckily this time we didn't have to walk past anyone sleeping on the beds as we walk up to our room. Packed our bags and went down stairs to pay. They gave us a there card so we would come and stay again!! Checked into our new hostel that is very nearby. The room is awesome. So cool. There is a little sofa and table downstairs and then there are stairs in the middle with 2 beds on either side. One bed is double and the other single. Such a nice change. For supper we wanted to find a really Chinesey place. We found an awesome Chinese buffet place where you cook your own food. Had a lot of fun. We had to chose what meat, fish and vegetables we wanted. Luckily there was an English menu this time. We had a frying area on the table and one with a pot of soup with masses of vegetables in it. We got some noodles for it too. We burnt quite a lot of meat as we forgot about it but better that way than the raw meat out here!! For pudding they had marshmallows on a stick and a chocolate fountain. We felt like we were pregnant afterwards! Made our way to the biggest night market in Taipei after supper. Took the MRT from Ximen to Taipei city hall and then from there to Jiantan. The night market was pretty big and very busy. Masses of Chinese tourists there. It was nice being able to walk along all the stalls and shops and not get hassled like we normally do. No-one tried to sell things on us. Lots of really cool little clothes shops . So tempting to get lots of stuff. We finished wandering around at 11 and then headed to the MRT to go back.
