Peanut Butter Time

We were going to have a early start but we both had such a bad nights sleep we slept in until 11. We had a Chinese woman in the room next to us with her tv on all night. Also, the beds are so narrow you have to be careful not to fall off every move you make. Instead of a late breakfast we decided to have lunch. We thought we went into a Chinese restaurant but turns out it is Japanese. Most of Japanese food is seafood as we found out...so Morag was a little disappointed! We couldn't make an exit like we do quite often as we were up 3 levels and had already been served something. We thought we had been served soup so we started drinking it like soup, we didn't like it very much and we understood afterwards as it was the sauce to go with my prawns. I had some yummy battered prawns with strange vegetables. Ordered a salmon and egg rice for us to share. Good breakfast/lunch! We were walking down the street when a couple of Chinese people approached us and said to me 'awwww, you so beautifuuuuul' and then looked at Morag and said 'and youuu sooo cuuuuute'. We both burst out laughing, I don't think that he thought it was offending. He was trying to sell us forks and spoons! The first white person we have seen approached us after lunch and asked if we knew the area. We got a fright when he said 'hey' as we were shocked to hear English! 3 of his friends then came over. It was slightly awkward as after 1 minute chatting his friend who I wasn't chatting too said 'nice meeting you guys' whilst me and the other guy were still chatting. So we ended the conversation quickly and made our way! Got a MRT from Ximen to Taipei zoo. We were suppose to switch lines at Zhongxiao Fuxing but we were chatting too much and had to get off at Zhongxiao Dunhua to then switch trams to get back to Zhongxiao Fuxing and switch to the Wenhu Line to get to Taipei zoo. Morag had a coffee cup in her hand and a Chinese lady told her that she is not allowed to drink on the tram. I think she was trying to be nice but it sounded like she was telling off Morag! Bought our ticket for the Zoo! We started at a very boring side... looking at all the insects. I got excited about the cool butterflies though! Saw our first koala, will probably see quite a few in Aus. We then queued for far too long to see a back of a panda, a little disappointing. We were complaining that the zoo was a little boring until we saw a tiger, elephants, hippos, beer and a leopard. The beer was trying to jump across to everyone which was slightly scary. It was pacing back and fourth. We left rather a lot of animals out but we have already been to a bird park and I am sure we will be seeing crocodiles in Aus. We took a tram to Zhongxiao Fuxing and explored the crazy smart shopping mall we came across. Lots of lovely lovely clothes. We tried to get out of the building which proved to be very difficult! We came across lots of free food in the process which was a nice surprise. Eventually we found a way outside. When we got outside we saw some men coming towards us with masses of dog with flags on them, one of the dogs was completely obese. The man wearing robes were pushing the fat dog along with all the other dogs following and all the men ringing bells!! Morag was happy as we came across a MAC so she got some more lipstick that she had lost. We had supper which wasn't so healthy. Consisted of a large baguette and a lot of peanut butter! Got the tram back to Ximen and then headed back to our 'hostel'. Lost track of the days and we realised it was Saturday so we thought we should go out. There was a bit of a dilemma after we had got ready to go out at the reception as the lady didn't understand anything. We were asking if it was okay to come back after 2 as they told us they closed at 2am the night before. Took us 15 minutes until nothing was understood so we just left it! We then realised to get to this bar we had no idea what MRT to take. So we went to Starbucks and bought something cheap so we could use the wifi. After I bought it I had to pay $100 to use wifi. Was a very pointless trip as I couldn't log onto it and everything was in Chinese writing which just made it even harder. So we decided we wouldn't go out. Wondered around again and then headed back to our room. Quite a late night as sorting stuff out on phone.
