was I just robbed?

First time ever we have had a blue jay visit our back porch!
It spied the peanuts I put out for my "pet" squirrels, but they were really only empty shells. So I quickly put out some fresh ones and the jay was pleased to take one and fly off.
But of course, my squirrels scampered up for a second helping, so when the jay came back for more it was unpleasantly surprised!
But the peanuts are a handout anyway, so where does this sense of entitlement come from?
Hmm, who knew peanuts and blessings had so much in common?
