Between fen and mountains

L'élagage

It is pruning time in the village square. It amazes me how these trees which are to be found on most village squares in the south of France can be cut back so hard and yet produce such copious and vital shade producing foliage in summer. These two were happy in their work and quite willing for me to take photos of their labours. Still, there are worse conditions of outdoor work than 20 degrees and pleasant sunshine. I think climate has a lot to do with why southern Europeans are more easy going and laid back than us grumpy northerners. 'Speak for yourself,' I hear you say.
