Village arboretum

The leaves on the trees in the village are starting to turn although I have not seen any spectacular colours as yet. The village has a large number of different species planted mostly around 100 years ago although a new tree is planted for each new birth in the village. I think that is a nice idea. Even I can identify them, thanks to the numbers that are attached to them and the various signboards that are placed around and about. The woods have hundreds of sweet chestnut trees in them. It is a shame I am not a fan. Last weekend was the fête de la chataigne in the next village. Great if you like roasted chestnuts.
