Make room for me!
See 2 silhouette selfies in large... in the dark area of each hover flies back. :)
Rain, rain, rain. Did I mention RAIN. Three days of, you guessed it, rain. Can you guess what is predicted for tomorrow and the next day? I'll refrain from saying it again... I think you may have gotten the picture. :-/
5:00 approached this afternoon and I was blippless. It was dark and dreary, but the precipitation had taken a break so I ventured out to find something to shoot. I was considering a small animal or a bird, but when I opened up my camera bag I found the macro lens still attached to the body... Hmmm, well maybe there's something left in a garden somewhere nearby... I didn't hold out much hope, but thought I'd give it a try. I found the usual bees and a spider or two, but as I moved farther up the road I noticed these sunny flowers (that's saying a lot about the power of their color on a day like today). I think my neighbor once told me that they were False Sunflowers (?). I liked the haphazard display of the petals; they look so unruly. :) Upon closer inspection, I realized that there were multiple hover flies on each bloom. I haven't seen a hover fly in more than a month. Now I find big ones, small ones, tiny ones, all crammed on each of the 5 flower centers that were available. It was windy but if you take thousands several images you can outwit the wind, even on a grey day like today.
Back inside listening to the thunder and heavy rain. It's sort of peaceful at the stage of the day.
