Mamma!!
Backblip #14
Day 1 of my epic solo Namibian Road Trip! Swakopmund to Twyfelfontein with a quick detour to the Cape Cross seal colony. This is the largest accessible seal colony in Namibia and apparently one of the smelliest! But I barely noticed :-).
After leaving the colony and heading back down south to Hentie's Bay I left the lovely smooth tar road with some apprehension. My route to Twyfelfontein was along the same road that we drove on to get to EHRA base camp the previous weeks - so I knew just how bumpy and corrugated it was! Along the way I stopped at the site of our brick wall to check out its progress with the next group - almost finished!
Thankfully I made it to my first stop, Aabadi Mountain Camp just before sunset and just in time for a spectacular lightning show, cracking thunder and a few drops of much needed rain. The manager mentioned that elephants had been in the camp grounds just two nights before!
Distance travelled - 420km and 7.5 hours.
