New Additions

We officially have two new bear cubs at VBRC! Their names are Lai Chau (pictured) and Sin Ho. Both boys and both completely adorable! They were discovered by FPD officials during a routine car inspection and were being smuggled from Laos to China via Vietnam. The FPD in the Lai Chau province seems to be very serious about wildlife smuggling and do regular inspections of trucks and cars passing through their region, which is refreshing to hear. If only the rest of the FPD regions were like that...

They are only about 10kg each but you can see from the size of their claws why there is no one-on-one contact with them. So no cub cuddles for me unfortunately! Luckily they are old enough to lap milk from a bowl and should be starting to eat solids soon also. Apart from some skin and nutrition problems they are in good health and will hopefully both do very well :)
